CAREER ADVANCEMENT

As a Correctional Officer, you have multiple pathways to advance your career. You can apply for a competitive selection process to attend the Police Academy and become a licensed Peace Officer. After two years of employment, this certification opens doors to promotions, such as becoming a jail supervisor and offers additional opportunities Patrol, Court Services, and Warrant & Civil Divisions. Correctional Officers also have opportunities to be selected as Training Officer, Emergency Response Team, Peer Assistance Crisis Team, Crisis Intervention Team, Honor Guard, and Security Threat Group.
